FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Updates

Update (8/14/17):

The following discusses a delay related to the Hazard Analysis and Preventive Controls part of the rule for large businesses. I want to clarify what this means…

It is a delay in the timeline for inspections of large businesses only. The Industry must still comply with Sub parts C and E by this September for large business and next September for small business. The FDA will proceed with cGMP inspections as they have been.. The change is that the Feed Safety Plan inspections will be delayed for large businesses. If an incident identifies non-compliance with any parts of the rule the FDA will proceed.

The best advice for all is to: “Keep calm and get busy!”

Getting Ready for the Next Compliance Dates for FSMA Animal Foods Rule

The second major compliance dates will soon arrive for the preventive controls for animal food rule under the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). On September 18, 2017, larger animal food facilities must comply with preventive controls requirements mandated by FSMA. And small animal food facilities will be required to meet Current Good Manufacturing Practices.
